It was a fabulous week (July 6 to 13) on Carnival's Triumph. The weather couldn't have been nicer - well, maybe cooler at St. Thomas (it must have hit 100 there). We enjoyed reading some good books on our three days at sea, and enjoyed site seeing tours at St. Thomas and San Juan, and snorkeling in Grand Turk. The delayed flight back from Miami Sunday was another story, thus a separate post. (The above picture was taken at Grand Turk.)

An overlook we stopped at in St. Thomas, our first port, on Wednesday

Some of the typical crowded-together housing in St. Thomas

The taxi island tour was scary in St. Thomas - driving on the left on their very narrow, swervy roads up and over the mountain in converted pick-ups that they call open air taxis.

We made good use of the gym facilities Monday through Friday. It's at the front of the ship on the top level so the view is top notch. We SHOULD have spent as much time in the gym as we did at the 3 meals a day chowing down.

Arriving in San Juan Thursday morning

At Fort San Cristobal in San Juan

the San Juan Cathedral

In Old San Juan - a lady passing us on the very narrow sidewalk who'd noticed our shirts said "Don't you wish you were in Alaska now!" She'd been there too and preferred it as well.

Did you notice the color of the cobblestone streets?

We had some tasty Puerto Rican rice and beans and fried plantains for lunch in Old San Juan
at this cafe recommended by our tour guide.

Fort del Morro and San Juan coastline

About to get back on board in San Juan, PR, my favorite port, where we had an excellent tour guide for our 2 hour tour.

Our dining room waiters - how we miss them! Lin is from Myanmar and Carlita is from Indonesia. They're both dads.

Plumena was the dining room hostess who took our orders for vegan fare
a day ahead and was so pleasant and helpful.

Our favorite evening meal in the Paris Dining Room -
vegetable enchiladas (we requested them 2 nights in a row even!)

The Grand Turk beach and colorful bouganvillea

Grand Turk's gorgeous water we snorkeled in - the reef there is the world's 3rd largest

The last night on the ship, at about sundown on the promenade deck. The water would have been good for water skiinig that night.

His last breakfast on the ship Sunday morning - both of those trays were his!

This was the lido deck on Sunday morning in Miami - where you could swim either in or OUT of the pool! We were so fortunate that we didn't have this rainy weather except in Miami at the start and finish of the cruise.
