Latest Happenings around Here. . . and Itinerary

The last two Sabbath's  we had dinner at Don and Susie Johnson's home along with others from our church and Southern - "Connections Cafe" - an effort to get the generations together.  Loved it and met some new friends.  Last Sabbath I met a man who has been on 44 cruises!  This picture is from Sabbath, Aug. 5.

Notice the very dead dogwood tree in the foreground?  I took this just before Randy cut it down at last!
There he is - playing with his chain saw again.  And this week he burned the stump down so he can mow over the area without it hitting the mower blades.

We took 3 of the Clubb family out boating last Sunday while they were "Flynn-sitting."
One morning this week we played some tennis. Randy and I got to try out his new racquet that he got from Ryan n Carrie for his birthday.  It's so nice!

Randy went to town scrubbing down the deck railing and got that much-needed job done yesterday morning. It looked so awful with all the green from our rain-forest-like weather.

Lunch yesterday at Abuelo's with Karen n Greg who are in town for their grandson's 10th birthday.  We love their tomatilla "sweet" salsa especially and their avocado enchiladas.

It sure was fun to see you guys!

Our bags are packed, we're ready to GO!  We leave home at 5 a.m. Tues. bound for the Chattanooga airport (hope to see the total eclipse Monday 46 miles north in Athens so no time to pack then).  We get to Copenhagen the next day at 12:45 p.m.  We have a lot of people-watching ahead of us in airports in Newark, Boston, and Reykjavik before we get to Copenhagen.  Can't wait to start taking in the sights in Copenhagen for 3 days, once we adjust to being 6 hours ahead of our time. We get on the Royal Caribbean ship Serenade of the Seas one week from today, Aug. 26, for our 15-day trans-Atlantic cruise with Ruthie n Milt.  Looked up the location of the SDA church in Copenhagen online today.  It would be fun if we could go there before getting on board.  We'll see if that works - not sure what to do with our luggage we would have with us.  We'll be home late on Milton's birthday, Sept. 12, after two days of sight-seeing in Boston.

A Stop in New Market Coming Back Home

Thanks, Carrie and Ryan, for the surprise birthday dinner/party!

(Jaclyn's picture) - thanks for the yummy key lime sugar-free birthday treat, Jaclyn.
We slept on this comfy air mattress in the sun room that Ryan has dubbed their Montana Room. The kids have claimed it for their play room.  I love the windows all around.

Before the delicious lasagna dinner

Kids and Milton playing games before we joined forces for Uno, and then some Dutch Blitz nonsense  :)

We took a walk/ride  through their quiet little neighborhood before we left Tues. morning for Pigeon Forge. It was August 1 and Randy was thrilled not having to be back in the saddle reporting to work for a change, like Stephanie and Ryan and Ryan had to at SVA this morning.

They live a stone's throw from the park, so we couldn't help but spend a few minutes there with our grandkids.

Ya' didn't know her legs were this long, did ya!

Whistling lessons before we headed to Pigeon Forge for a Dollywood visit before going home.  By the way, we found a very nice little independent motel there on the Parkway on the south end of Pigeon Forge that was only $68 + tax for the four of us and it was very clean and comfortable, American-owned, nice breakfast, indoor and outdoor pool, kiddie pool, hot tub.  It's called Norma Dan Motel.

When we stopped to see them for a minute on our way to Mom's.

Trip to Mom's with Ruthie n Milt

Picking Transparent apples from Coleman's old farm property on Wed., July 26.

We sauced several pints for them to enjoy this winter! We also froze 6 dozen ears of corn.

Milton stirring the Sakrete to set the post for their new hand railing at their cabin on the creek.

We sanded down the picnic table and these two chairs before weather-proofing them on Thursday.

Lunch prep going on inside the cabin Thursday

Look what Milton found out by the lawn mower!  He chased it down over the hill to the creek to get it away from the house.

This tree came down in May that Randy is working on with Coleman's chain saw.  Several chunks of it were removed.

We washed down the outside of their trailer by the creek on Friday.

There's no running water at the cabin so the pump on the back porch works for water needs.

Gathering for a tasty lunch!  Ruthie made a batch of homemade baked beans, potato salad, fresh sweet corn and hot dogs for my birthday lunch Sunday at the cabin.  Randy made a sugarless blueberry pie!

There's no cell service at the cabin, but Ruthie did get FB notifications and could send texts.

Chill time after lunch, before the mowing/weed eating and lawn pick-up resumed.

Lawn maintenance crew - lunch time?

Lots of hunting trophies on the walls

Coleman's dad built this in 1875 for the Methodist Church.  When they built another church in 1832, his dad bought it and it's been in the family ever since.  Coleman shares it with his sister, Mary Lou.

Just before we left Mon. morning, July 31.
