Jan/Feb Walks, Puzzles, Concerts, Bike Rides, Bereavement meals, Smokies Cabin and more!

The following hodge podge of pictures are not in chronological order.  It's just a quick "catch-up" post before we had down the road today for Pensacola Beach to thaw out  :)

Feb. 1 picnic at the TN River - celebrating Ryan's birthday from "afar"

Mom's first scooter trip on the Riverwalk, Feb . 1

Saying hello to Gabby, one of our neighbors' friendly corgis.

A Sabbath afternoon walk down our dead end street - we were happy to find Gabby and Maggie in their front yard and happy for our visit.

Randy spent a lot of time lately on projects on the motorhome, like putting up lights on the outside and some new ones inside as well.  The older we get, the more light we need!

We three all enjoy puzzling.  Most are from the Sam. Ctr. and we check to be sure all the pieces are there so they can be sold.

Lights on both sides to help when he needs to see in the bins or around the electrical or water workings.

Our first tulips of the year popped out one balmy February day.

Super Bowl Sunday games - Zoomeron fun (similar to Sequence)

Several games of Rummy K

We three attended a Chatt. Symphony Val. Day Concert at the Collegedale Commons and really enjoyed it.

Our first bike ride of the year was on the Greenway on Feb. 15

On Feb. 16 we biked the Riverwalk

We pretty much had Coolidge Park and the Walnut St. Bridge to ourselves!

Our Feb. 16Valentine's lunch at Sluggos, just about half a mile beyond Coolidge Park, easy to bike to.

A bereavement reception on Feb. 17 in the South Atrium of our church for a 67-year old lady, Elaine Plemons.  I'm the leader for these events during the month of February each year.  We had the last two years off due to Covid.

On Thurs., Feb. 17, we thoroughly enjoyed an Aaron Shust concert at our church

A little Settlers fun - he was blue and you can see he dominated.

Another bereavement meal - for Bob and Becky Bolton's son, Bobby, on Feb. 21

He was in the navy so his mom provided fitting table decorations.

These happy daffodils are thriving - picture taken Feb. 22.

We loaded up the motorhome and put the bikes on the rack yesterday.  We head out for Gulf Islands National Seashore, to camp at Fort Pickens campground on Santa Rosa Island for 12 days, and then go on to Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, AL for our first time.  We'll also camp at Meaher State Park on an island in Mobile Bay, which is right by Eastern Shore Rail Trail all along the Bay that we plan to bike.

Then we'll go to Dauphin Island to explore for a few days from
Bay Palms Resort where we're camping.  We'll be gone almost five weeks - get home March 27.

We hope NOT to see any of this down on the Gulf these next five weeks.  We had a few snow showers so far this year in Collegedale.  It's been VERY cold for down here.

Kayce and Krissy Platt come to visit Mom now and then

The battle with the wisteria will never end.  Randy took out a lot of it on one cold day this month, before the ticks came out to play. . .

Mom completed the needlework on the tablecloth - it's so beautiful and fits Ruthie's table so nicely and looks great with Mom's china.

The mobility scooter we got for Mom has enabled her to go out with us on walks when the weather is nice.

This is the way we went to church (from our recliners) for most of Jan. and Feb. - away from all the Covid, and enjoying Pastor Shane Anderson's sermons from New Market, VA.  An added bonus is getting to see our family and friends who often have an active part in the services.  Carrie, Claire, Jaclyn, Renee, Jordan and Jackson have shared their musical talents.  Ryan told the children's story a week ago and Easton took up the Lamb's offering.

The Southern Adventist University Symphony Concerto Concert was great!  This flamboyant violinist soloist was from Andrews.

The note I left for Mom in the middle of the night when the trapped raccoon on our deck woke us up at 1:45, so we took him to his new home a distance away.

This is the picture Randy got of him on our deck just a couple days before he so kindly walked into our trap!

This is the kitchen in the cabin some of us from my academy class have reserved for this September for 3 days.  I've been involved with two friends in getting these arrangements taken care of recently.  We're celebrating our 70th birthdays - or that's the excuse for this get-together anyhow.  Three more pictures of it are below - it's in the Smokies, Pigeon Forge, with a view of Mt. LeConte

One of the 12 bedrooms.  Eleven of them have private baths.

When we share the cost of this beauty 11 ways, it makes it cheaper than staying in a motel.  And think of the fun we'll have.  It's helpful that Sharon ran a catering business during her working years and she's already thinking about meals she'll make for us.  And so am I thinking of all the good food!!
