Ruthie's Family Thanksgiving Snaps

All together at last in Sidney, Montana for Thanksgiving (it was Jeff's first time to see their "new" location) . Welcome to the family, Sara!

Christmas came early it looks like. Anytime the family gets together is a good time for ANY celebration. Nice tree, Ruthie!

Here's Ruthie's description of where they were and how she added grace to the scene: "We went to the bridge and walked across and went into that tunnel and walked through it and then walked over several hills and around there. I did not have the right walking shoes and went sliding down backwards down the hill and then ended up in my stocking feel and then barefoot. Quite a hoot for sure."

Santa came to Montana it looks like. What a cutie.

Faith joined in the Christmas fun too after the long ride to Montana with John. Was the outfit your Christmas present to her, Ruthie?

Friday at Madeira Beach

Do you recognize those frisbee tossers behind Mom & Coleman? It was a good chance for Coleman to relax and call his family back in PA. Thanks for chauffeuring us to Sweet Tomatoes for lunch and then to the beach, Coleman.

Yes, that's Randy running pell mell after the frisbee Ryan at Madeira Beach Friday (read the post down a couple for the rest of the story!)

Good catch!

We enjoyed watching the the boardwalk action and did some shopping there too.

It couldn't have been nicer weather Friday for bumming around the area.

It was a gorgeous sunset once again.

Thanksgiving Dinner Pictures

What a spread - "turkey" & dressing, sweet potato casserole, meatballs, eggplant parmesan, green bean casserole, corn, zucchini salad, and cranberry sauce for starters! Then came the choice of dessert - pumpkin, apple, or Mom's delicious grapefruit meringue pie.

Pictures of Thanksgiving dinner at Auntie Cork's.

The "kids" table :) - just around the corner from the rest. (Notice the gorgeous live flower arrangement center piece. You really outdid yourself, Karen. Thanks so much.)

Did we go to FL at Thanksgiving or was I dreaming?

Good thing we took pictures or I might wake up tomorrow and think I was dreaming that we went to FL for Thanksgiving. It was too quick!

We left Wed. morning with Ryan (who drove here from Mt. Vernon Tues. in a rental car). Later this week (or tonight?) you'll probably be able to see his pictures of the trip at http://northshore84.blogspot.com/ For some reason he feels like he spent the break mostly on the road (it was only 4 out of his 6 days off. . .), so you can imagine the pictures he'll be posting. But today he's headed home, as I blog, in his snappy looking "new" Grand Prix, at last! We took it to FL and really enjoyed the comfort and zip it has. He's rather pleased with it, and assured us that we WILL see it again. He's pretty careful about where he parks nowadays and is determined not to leave town without his car or else it'll be in his garage at the Arbors!

The weather couldn't have been any nicer for the trip or visit, but the traffic coulda' been. . . typical Thanksgiving weekend jam up's, but it coulda' been worse. Ryan got into a bad slow-down in KY on Tues. and traveled something like 6 miles in about 1 1/2 hours up around Corbin. He checked the map before leaving today to find a way around that section of I-75.

We enjoyed visiting with Mom and Coleman, as well as Auntie Ruby, Uncle Henry, Auntie Cork, Karen and Greg, and Ken. I visited Uncle Lester in the nursing home Thursday morning too. Karen went all out and made a fabulous Thanksgiving dinner for us all. We brought pies that we made at home Tuesday to contribute at least. (I've tried a dozen times to include pictures here of the dinner at Auntie Cork's but the pictures just won't appear for some reason. At least one of the cook would finally go so I included it above.)

Friday was another glorious day outside for our visit to Madeira Beach and John's Pass. They're doing a lot of construction there of a new drawbridge that is to be done in 2011, $75.6 million later! They're also re-doing the boardwalk and some stores there.

The dolphins and pelicans entertained us along the boardwalk and channel, while Ryan enjoyed Sports Fan Attic shopping in the village.

Randy and Ryan tossed the frisbee while Mom, Coleman and I walked the beach. I didn't get to see it, but Randy said he now qualifies for Funniest Home videos, if only I'd had the camera rolling. He was running to catch a long toss watching only the frisbee, when he ran into the garbage can and it's wooden fencing built around it - OUCH! At least he didn't go head first into it. Some guys nearby got a good laugh out of it he said.

The sunset Friday was gorgeous as always there on Madeira Beach. It'll be hard to decide which pictures to print. I'd post more but blogger isn't cooperating. Maybe in a separate post later it'll work. . .

Biking the River Walk Again

Another great Sabbath afternoon on the River Walk a week ago yesterday. We were surprised to see the water flowing through the dam, but shouldn't have been since this is the time of year they lower the water level above the dam.

We got a later start than we wanted to so biked straight downtown without stopping even once for pictures. So it was nice to get off the bike seats once we got up on the Walnut Street Bridge.

It seemed to be a little easier on our back sides though this time than three weeks before when we biked it for our first time. Randy is wanting to go again this afternoon, but I'm staked out down here updating my blog first.

A crazy boater was fishing in the strong current below the dam and seemed to be having fun racing around soon after casting his line and drifting fast with the current. It was after sunset at the end of our ride that we watched that so we didn't take any pictures. We did picnic there by the dam - fortunately the picnic pavilion has lights. There were still some trees with brilliant fall colors for our enjoyment. We just wish we'd started biking this 17-mile round trip trail sooner. It's very enjoyable. I think we're about to head out again!

Farewell to Fluffy

Last Wednesday Fluffy moved out of our shed and rode with a student of mine and his mom to her new home out in the country about 10 miles from us. It was a sad day for me, saying good-bye to our family pet of eleven years. But with both of us allergic to cats, she didn't get much attention.

She now has lots of space to roam, as this picture shows that was taken beside her new home. There is a lot of woods and yard behind the house. Knowing what a great mouser she is, she should be plenty busy out in the country. She's gone to live where there are no other cats so she can continue being the one and only.

I'd prayed for over a year off and on for God to help us find a home for her, and so I am thankful that when I asked last week in all my classes, there was a good Samaritan family willing to take her in. Randy hauled away a trailer load of stuff from the shed to a dumpster and we filled our trash can too. The clean-up is still in process out in the shed. Whenever I go out to get something out of the freezer, I do miss having her to talk to, but not the hair all over my pant leg when I walk away. The nest is truly EMPTY now. . . just the two of us. Ryan and Jessica come by now and then to talk or use Ryan's basketball court. We gave their family a few prize give-aways from the shed even, including Fluffy's newest ceramic water dish.

Too Good Not to Post from the Wedding Still!

What a handsome dude the best man was, and still IS!

Isn't this a great one from Ruthie of Mom with John & Jeff at the wedding.

And another one of Mom with John at the Reception.
