Quilts, Company and Sump Pumps

I started this quilt in mid-January and used scraps I bought from the Sam. Ctr. for the top.  I took it to Betty's Quilts in Cleveland for the long arm quilting that Barbara Kitterman did (for $115).  It was nice to have it back before company arrived the last weekend of February.  If you wonder why quilts cost so much, consider that this quilt that's 94 x 108 I spent $235 for just materials (all of it at sale prices, or better).  Quilters love what they do - they aren't in it for making money!

It's on our queen size bed in the guest room as a bedspread, but could be used as a blanket on our king bed.

Amy n Jeremy surprised us on Friday, Feb. 22, with a visit on their way home from a conference she had to attend in Clearwater. It was so nice having them here, even though their visit was too short.

Sabbath supper with Ruthie n Milt and Stephanie too, who was in town for a Deans' Convention

How fun Uno was Sat. night!

Renee got back from Jimmy's in time to join in the fun.

We had gorgeous weather for our visit to Veterans Park on the Greenway.

Our sump pump burned up on the weekend, with all the rain we've had.  Jackson n Jordan enjoyed helping Randy use the wet vac to suck up water until our new sump pump came in.

Ryan came for the deans' meetings, and stayed at SAU, but we got to enjoy Jaclyn and the boys.

It was nice having Renee here with us too.

There it is - he installed it Friday, March 1.  It's working swell.  It was such a blessing that Jeremy and Amy were staying downstairs when it burned out and heard the alarm going off.  We could have had a real mess to greet us Sunday when Jaclyn and the boys arrived to stay 3 nights.

On Wed. night and Thurs. last week I put this comfort quilt together for Hazel.  It's from a jelly roll (2.5 inch strips of fabric all in a roll), and the squares are all 2 inches.  I'll put borders on it yet before it's quilted and a border sewn on. It looks like an old fashioned quilt to me.
