Sabbath in PA with Amy & Jeremy too

Amy and Jeremy came to visit Grandma TJ on Sabbath. It was our first time to see their new-to-them Honda Element.

They had a look at the flood devastation with us.

We even got Mom down to the "crick" for a bit.

The area where Milton was walking was totally flooded a couple weeks ago by the Loyalsock Creek. It was 38 ft. above flood level - it's highest in recorded history. It washed out the road on both sides of the "crick."

The county made a temporary road thru this farmer's property so folks could get out who were otherwise stranded. (no, Randy is not the farmer. . . I just liked the silo on the barn so took his picture there.)

Notice the street name, as well as the real estate sign. It's Fish country!

We enjoyed beautiful weather Sabbath afternoon on their patio. Randy and I happily occupied the swing - we'll do great in our retirement years as long as I have a porch swing!

at Sabbath supper - ready to enjoy some Numete-like sandwiches - yum!
That was traditional at the Jackson's house.

A few family pictures before Amy & Jeremy headed back home Sat. night on their 4 hr. trip.

A Quick PA trip to see Mom

Wednesday, Sept. 21, we drove to see Mom who was in the hospital since Tues. morning. What great news we got Thurs. morning that they were sending her home. Praise God for answered prayers! It was great spending some time with her, Ruthie and Milton too Thurs. and Fri.

We walked along their road beside Loyalsock Creek that was washed away after Labor Day by Tropical Storm Lee.

Since the bridge was also washed away, what used to be a 5 mi. trip is now 14 mi. to town. We learned how to get over Katie Jane Mtn into Williamsport from their house in Montoursville.

Their cabin on the bank of the Loyalsock creek was washed off its foundation and moved 75 to 100 ft. where it came to rest in a bunch of trees.

What a sad site. Coleman's family had enjoyed the cabin for many years. It was flooded several years ago, and then had a fire in it a couple years ago. They cleaned it up and replaced furnishings, only to have it destroyed by this flood, the worst ever there.

Indian Creek Camp with Claire

Since Claire was at ICC visiting her great grandpa on Sabbath, Sept. 17, we decided to make a surprise trip to ICC too!

Claire Comes to Visit!

Guitar lesson time with Gramps Sat. night!

Have you ever seen a sweeter face?!

Nap time with Gramps Sunday afternoon

About to conk

Gettin' ready to leave Sunday - the room was dark so her eyes were HUGE trying to see!

The weekend included a lovely picnic at Riverview Park Sabbath afternoon. Unfortunately the camera's card was left at home. . .

Sunday afternoon we paid a short visit to the lake - wow! The water sure has cooled off since our last visit a few weeks ago.

We missed having Carrie out with us. Hopefully next summer she AND Claire will be boating.

Tropical Storm Lee Drenches Collegedale Area

We drove home from Portland in the midst of the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee.

Not many walkers on the Greenway - this is a sidewalk going under this bridge, not a river!

Soggy picnic area across from Greenway

The bridge on Tucker Road by the Greenway

woops - where's the sidewalk?

looks like the creek got lost or something along the Greenway

The movie in the park was postponed that had been scheduled for Labor Day. After over a month with just .01 inch of rain, who would have expected a rained out movie nite?

We ended up getting 10 inches of rain in just 24 hours - which led to lots of flooding and trees down on power lines. Ours was out for 12 hours yesterday - it came back on at bedtime. We got sent home from school early when the power went out there at about 1 p.m. Worse things have happened . . .
