Ryan's 360 Attempts on Hold

Ryan tried a 360 a couple times this week, and here's what it looked like thru the camera lens as I captured the series. You're going to have to imagine the right order, cause I can't seem to get them to GO in the right order on this post! Here's a hint - first he went up, then he came DOWN. . .and the splash grew bigger as more of his body met the water!

He was determined after he came so close to pulling it off to master it this week, before he moves Monday. But our boat has other ideas it would seem. Yesterday when we took it out, we noticed the temperature light came on soon as we started it up at the boat ramp, and so we turned it off to let it cool, and turned it on again, only to watch the temperature gauge climb way too fast as we idled out of the no wake zone. So we turned it off and jumped in to cool ourselves off (yes, it was another very hot/humid day, like all the last two weeks have been).

We swam while Ryan and Carrie and Jaclyn enjoyed his SeaDoo for the first time this summer - we were elated to see it start-up without any trouble.

So unless he decides to try the 360 behind the Seadoo Sunday :) his next attempt will be next time he comes to visit us in boating season - hopefully September home leave for him.

It's good to have Carrie here this weekend - we're missing her at the Sabbath dinner table and on the boat.

Last night we looked at old pictures and enjoyed Friday evening at home.

Good Things Come to those who Wait. . .

I understand there are a few eager to see some pictures of this "other Ryan" - so here they are at last, starting with the back view as they watched Ryan wakeboard.

Then Ryan K. had his turn - first time in two years he was on a board.

As you can see, he has a zest for life that makes him great fun to have around. Jaclyn particularly agrees with that it seems.

We really enjoyed having him out on the boat with us Thursday, even though he had to leave way too soon to go to an awards dinner meeting at the Honors Golf Course - congratulations!

And then there were two . . . Ryan's - that is!

The Eric/Ryan Series!

What fun they've had on our "basketball court" this week. Here's a series Randy took one hot day. The pictures speak for themselves. After Ryan moves, I guess it'll be you, Randy, dunking those balls Eric passes to you, and me taking pictures - yea, whatever! Please don't try this "over Eric's head" trick though. I'm not sure the springs on your feet are quite as good.

Auntie Ruby's Stop Over

It was nice to have Auntie Ruby & Uncle Henry stop by Mon. evening on their way back to Florida I had to show them my blog before we let them bed down for the night. That's one hazard of having a computer in your bedroom - sorry to keep you up so late after your 11 hour day on the road.

We printed out Mapquest so they could visit Aldis before leaving Chattanooga. They learned there's going to be an Aldis open in Orlando in 2007! Finally they're making it to Florida.

It's been really nice getting to see you three times this summer. Come again!

More Beans to be Spilled?

This "bean counter" (I did teach it for 9 years here at CA after all) has noticed an "extra" around lately - anybody else notice that? He even went out on the boat today with us, which means pictures may soon reach a blog. But now he's left town for vacation with his family. What's going on?!? Do tell, Jaclyn! It's been so confusing lately, with all the talk about "Ryans" in the air. . .

Wakeboarding & Skiing Videos

Tuesday morning was a perfect day at the lake! Only one other skier was out carving up the water so it was smooth sailing most of the time. We forgot our camera but Ryan took his so Jaclyn took some video on it for us. Don't you love digital cameras!! We sure do. We hope to get out again tomorrow. We have to maximize this last week of Ryan home with us and no rain.

Spinning on the Tubes

This is a clip we took in June of Megan and Ethan spinning on the tubes. My first video post. We'll see how this works.

Tubing Tricks and Trauma

Sunday we took 5 of our students from CA out on the boat for some tubing fun.

It was a great day to be on the lake - nice and hot (it reached 97) with refreshing water all around us that we enjoyed often, as Caitlin and Joelle are in this picture. It was just too hot to stay on board any longer.

Joelle forgot her sunglasses so was really happy we had a spare pair in the glove box on the boat. If you think these look familiar, you've probably seen a previous post with others shown "borrowing" these famous sunglasses. Most only forget their sunglasses once who go out with us!

Megan and Ethan took the first turn behind the boat and survived nicely in their favorite sitting position, which helped Caitlin and Joelle decide to take the plunge next.

Caitlin could be heard all around about every time she went over the wake - she's on the left in the above picture. She was more vocal about her feelings than others.

Here's the end of a spin with Ethan and Molly back there behind the tube somewhere.

Then came Ethan's turn to spin out on the next one. Good grip, Ethan!

Molly and Joelle bouncing on the waves - especially Joelle!

Megan suggested we take the log out of the water that we hit before we saw it (it didn't hit the prop fortunately), so she pulled it up out and into the boat then let Ethan give it a mighty heave, almost to shore. Good deed done for the day - thank you!

A Boy and a Ball

Here are a few shots of fun Ryan had here in our driveway shooting hoops at his "home" court, at least for another week before his move to Ohio. I won't have nearly the fun picts. to post anymore. I might as well sell this camera and computer and invest in yarn and
knitting needles. . .

Is this Carter or Bosh????

Smile - you're on candid camera
Swish? You'll never know!
Defying gravity!
Another big dunkeroo - lookout!

Random Wakeboarding Shots from July 13

Jaclyn, hold on to that edge!

That back toe looks pretty deep, Ryan!

Jaclyn on the wake Thursday

What fun!

Boating with Ryan and Jaclyn

Here's a series I took of Ryan - the attack, the jump, the 180. . .

the landing, the carve, and what's this last one????

A couple of great shots of Ryan

Jaclyn's turn. . . where'd she go?

Jaclyn wakeboarding, spotter Ryan, driver Randy, and toe of the photographer

Just cruising before leaving the lake - a quick trip down the river to Harrison Bay State Park

What good lookin' boat drivers I have!

Jaclyn enjoying her nice long turn wakeboarding - she went FOREVER - what endurance!

Notice the shadows - a sunny visit to the lake - what a treat!

It's been great getting out on the boat a couple times this past week. The water is perfect - refreshing still, but not cold. We even had sunshine on Thursday morning, in spite of the forecast. We hope to get out tomorrow morning with some of our CA students. It's great boating weather - hot and humid. (Right now at 5:20 Sabbath evening it's 97 degrees in our back yard. I'm glad we took our walk this morning, cause it's too hot to even THINK of venturing out now.)
