The Biking Bunch

Amy & Jeremy arrived about 1 Friday afternoon. We enjoyed a walk and they biked along with us on our street before supper Friday.

Friday evening, ready to go to SAU's vespers - I love this picture!

Sabbath afternoon River Walk biking event with the 6 of us

Forsythia are in bloom already after our record-breaking 74 degrees last week

Hand check!

I love the new pink paint job on Amy's bike.

The great Houdini?

Biking along the TN River downtown - Lookout Mtn. in the distance.

We made it to the Walnut Street Bridge

in front of the Hunter Art Museum

It was breezy and a little cool, especially at sunset at the end of our ride.

Jackets felt good to us oldsters! We warmed up in Steve & Barry's later - see Ryan's blog for shopping pictures at http://northshore84.blogspot.com/
and then tanked up at Cicis.

It's about that time - Randy and Ryan both got their ears lowered Sunday.

After biking and flying a kite, Amy & Jeremy came home to join us in a Wisteria vine trashing effort beside our garage. You should see the pile out by the road, awaiting the city pick-up service tomorrow. What an accomplishment. It was great having their help.

We took a couple pictures before Amy & Jeremy retired early for their 1 a.m. Monday departure.

Time for some Birthday Grapefruit & Cookies!

Ryan has enjoyed grapefruit since before his first birthday,
when he had one with a candle in it too.

We had haystacks, home made vegan "ice cream" and the 24th birthday cookie
(with carob chips)

Jason, Jaclyn & Ryan joined us

Nobody even mentioned that the cookie shrank from two sheets to one this year -
I guess with the recession and all, nobody was surprised. . .

We enjoyed chatting around the fireplace till about 10. Conversation ranged from wedding plans, to cold, wet camping trips at Cumberland Falls and Claytor Lake, to water skiing memories. It was so nice to share the special day with good friends, "the family we choose ourselves." We missed some special people who we wish coulda' been here too. You know who you are!
