February is my month to organize bereavement dinners at our church, so we need to stay close to home. We wanted to go to Dad's in Plymouth for his Feb. 13 birthday, if we could catch a winter weather break and be free from dinners. We found that window, where there was 0% precipitation all the way up on Fri., Feb. 8, and no dinners to plan were on the calendar. We made it a week without any coming up, and found a day a week later with no precipitation predicted the whole way home for our return trip!

| We had a birthday supper Sat. night for Dad a few days ahead of his birthday. Aunt June and Uncle Jim came too. |
| Heather was there too, but not feeling well so zoned out on the couch. Terry was at home, sick with food poisoning. |
| Jake whipped us at this game |
| Two days after we arrived the snow and ice came - big time! It snowed ALL day on top of ice. |
Schools were closed even.
| Ollie spent some time moving snow around in the back yard on his snow day. |

| Randy's birthday card for Dad's 92nd birthday, with plumbers' tools on it, to go with the theme of the week's events. . . Anne's old hot water heater started leaking badly on Sunday, so Randy and Dad attacked the job of getting the old one out of the basement (thanks to Zack and Jake's help) and the new one hooked up. Home Depot wanted $1800 to do the job. . . they spent parts of three days getting it done and lots of trips back and forth to Home Depot since they had to put new pipes in as the old ones didn't fit on the new taller hot water heater. |
| Randy spent a lot of time "standing in the corner" of Anne's basement, but left feeling very satisfied. Anne and the kids appreciate hot showers again too. We felt like we got our break to go to MI at just the right time for Anne. |
| He got to do some shoveling. . . |
| . . . and replaced bad spark plugs on Dad's snow blower. . . |
| . . . then used it three times in one day! |
| Thurs. night we went to the dome and they enjoyed hitting some golf balls, a nice change from the previous 3 days activities for Dad and Randy. |
