The Story of the Dead Tree

We didn't even know about this dead tree until Janet's neighbor knocked on our door to tell us back the day before the Easter tornadoes.  Ever since then, we've been praying for God to hold the tree up and waiting for a guy to come out and give us a quote for doing the job.  Since he was extra busy with all the tornado tree jobs, he wasn't getting around to this.  Randy started checking with other companies and lumber jacks a couple weeks ago.  The dead pine tree was up a steep bank, and leaning down towards her house.  Randy has been working to find out for sure whose property this dead tree was on, Janet's or ours.  Milton went out with his metal detector to help Randy find the stakes that marked the back of our property in our woods.  They determined it was just inside of our property line on Thursday.  And Big Woody's Tree Service came out Friday to cut it down.  It was interesting and scary watching the process!

The guy up in the bucket did an amazing job.  He cut it in chunks, and none of the branches or chunks landed on the dog pen fence you can see in the picture above.

They had the job done in about two hours.

They pushed all the limbs up onto our property to clear hers, which Randy requested. $1,000 later, the job is done. The threat is now gone to the house below us.  Praise the Lord.  Moral of the story - don't buy a house with woods on it!  It gets expensive.
