On the Boat Again!
At Amy's urging, we got our boat out of the winter's "mothballs" (that would be the carport, buried under the boat cover that was heavily coated with pollen) Monday evening. We made a quick trip after school to Harrison Bay State Park to get our season's pass and take a look at the water level. Sure enough - it was back up, and then some, thanks to the weekend rain. What we couldn't see from the road though, was all the debris floating everywhere back in Wolftever Creek. Had we seen that, we probably wouldn't have gone home to get the boat and head out. It was like a floating land mine zone.
In spite of the "sludge" all over the water, Amy, Jeremy and Blevins took their turns behind the boat. Amy and Jeremy slalomed and Blevins tried out the kneeboard - his first time ever, and succeeded. Unfortunately, just after he got up and going, we hit a floating 2 x 4 that was about 10 feet long.
We were in such a hurry to get out on the water (didn't get there till about 6:45) that we forgot our camera. But Jeremy brought his and sent us these pictures yesterday of the outing. This second one is Jeremy skiing. I'm surprised there's no wood or other "stuff" visible on the water's surface in the pictures. Hopefully the next time we go out the debris will have cleared out and the water will be more inviting to us "oldsters."
We were told at the state park office that there is legislation that's likely to go through that will result in no fees to use the boat launch, as of July 1. So if that happens (thank you politician running for election) we'll get back half of our season pass cost! Ryan has 5 weeks at home before he heads to camp that he hopes to make good use of his SeaDoo. We're looking forward to him getting home tomorrow evening! His car is loaded already he told us yesterday.
