Wed. morning we received a call from the Operations Manager at Loveland who I'd left a message for on Monday. He said that Randy could use his scooter there if he provided a note from his doctor that said he couldn't wear ski boots. We'd been trying to get that since Monday morning, to no avail. So Randy left more messages with the doctor's office nurse and finally managed to get the needed statement via a fax sent to the stables where John works.

So Thurs. morning we were off for Loveland Basin to ski and scoot for the day in a
snow storm/blizzard!
Loveland Ski Area has 93 trails and 9 chairlifts. Their longest run that we enjoyed was 2 miles. And they didn't limit Randy to just one lift. It's a family-run resort. It was refreshing to deal with Bob, who could make a his own decision instead of having to let the Vail Resorts decide if Randy could use the snow scooter.

When we stopped for a snack at lunch time, the precipitation falling was like
Dippin' Dots ice cream!

We enjoyed several new inches of snow that fell throughout the day - the nicest powder ski conditions we've ever had.

It made for some difficult visibility. Notice the absence of other skiers on the slopes - some had more sense. We felt deprived of good skiing all week until today so we endured the sometimes brutal conditions.

On our last couple of runs, the snow quit and the sun tried to shine.

We really like Loveland Basin. It's at a higher elevation than Copper so they get more snow (10,800 ft. at the base and 12,700 ft. off the highest chair #9) It also makes getting there and back safely a little more of a challenge. It's a little closer to John's than Copper is, it seemed. We wish Copper hadn't changed their policy (to match up with the Vail Resorts, including Keystone this year too) about Snow Scooter usage - but at least we discovered another great place to ski. Now to convince Highland's group, or at least Ryan and Carrie, to give it a try the next time they go west for spring break.
